On July 29th, the director of HART will be going
to Knoxville for a Tennessee Disaster Animal Response
Team course. All three FEMA courses that are required as
pre-requisites for the course have been completed. Once
the class has been passed and a Code of Conduct form has
been received by the state, we will officially be the
only rescue in this area that's a certified member of
the TN state DART team. In times of crisis - flood,
tornado, etc., or when there is a puppy mill or hoarding
bust we will be called in to help.
On August 21st, HART will be having a foster and
volunteer outreach picnic. We will have information on
ways you can help within the rescue and information on
fostering pets. Food and drinks will be provided.
Location to be determined.
On August 26th, Tammy and Clay, our shelter
coordinators have worked with the spay / neuter clinic
in Shelbyville, TN and teamed up with the Warren County
Humane Society to have a low cost clinic. We will
provide transportation for your pets out of our area if
you need it. Costs will be in the $30 to $40 range and
include spay / neuter and rabies vaccine. If you call
ahead and let us know who needs their annual vaccine,
HART will provide those for $5.
HART is planning a picnic for it's staff and volunteers
in late September / early October. We're tentatively set
for the picnic at a volunteers home. They've got a large
piece of land that's very park like in setting, with a
river and dock. Fishing, swimming, canoeing and paddle
boating will all be some of the fun you can enjoy. A
picnic lunch with drinks will be provided. Definite
dates and times will be sent to you by e-mail.
Tammy and Clay are also working with Fixed for Life to
get their mobile spay / neuter vehicle to our area in
late October for a spay / neuter day. If your business
is interested in sponsoring this, please contact us at
HARTinTN@aol.com and let us know what you can provide.
We will be charged roughly $2400 for the day's event. We
also will need 5 hotel rooms for the night, food for 2
days for 5 staff members, and water for the staff for
during the day.
